The Contest beginn…Remix-Contest: Florian Meindl – The Way it Took us (22nd February – 22nd March 2010)

Nach dem den genialen Semi´s auf Berlin Mitte Institut folgt nun der Remix Contest also gebt Gas wenn ihr eine Chance geben mich haben wollt, Spass bei seite ich bin jetzt schon auf euer Material gespannt allen Teilnehmern wünsche ich auf diesem Wege alles Gute.

Tag zusammen ! Wie versprochen, hier folgt die Remix-Wettbewerb zu Florian Meindls Track “The Way it Took us”, welchen er in zwei live Produktionssendungen beim Berlin Mitte Institut live produzierte. Früher nahm Florian selbst an vielen Remix-Wettbewerben teil, daher freut er sich zusammen mit uns vom Berlin Mitte Institut mal einen ausrichten zu können. Die besten beiden Remixe (vielleicht auch mehr) werden auf FLASH Recordings zusammen mit Florian Meindls Originaltrack veröffentlicht, vielleicht sogar als 12″ Vinyl (kommt auf die Qualität der Remixe an). Die Jury wird aus Florian Meindl, Kandel und Fresh Meat bestehen, das letzte Wort behält Florian. Lasst euer Kreativität freien Lauf, jegliches Genres / Experimentelles ist willkommen ! Egal ob nun groovender Clubtrack, oder listening only – we want good music !

Hier sind die Regeln:

• Start: 22.02.2010, Ende: 22.03.2010, 0 Uhr CET. Bis 5. April 2010 werden wir uns für die Gewinner entschieden haben
• Anhand des Materials aus Florians Track produzierst du einen Remix (Wikipedia) – es muss erkennbar sein, dass du Elemente aus Florians Originaltrack benutzt hast
• Am 22. Februar 2010 veröffentlichen wir die Remix-Files hier im Blog
• Lade deinen fertigen Remix zur eigens dafür angelegten Soundcloud-Group hoch (Downloads ausschalten und nirgendswo anders hochladen!) Die Tracks approven wir dann.
• Remixe wie folgt benennen:
  BMI_Techno_Seminar_(Remixer_Name_Remix_Name_Stil)
• Benutz den Comment-Bereich dieses Postings um Fragen zu stellen, keine Fragen per Email !
• Im Comment-Bereich deines Remixes auf Soundcloud beantworte folgende Fragen:

1. Welche Hardware / Software hast du für die Produktion genutzt ?
2. Welche Teile von Florian hast du benutzt und wie ?
3. Bei der Produktion der Struktur und Ästhetik deines Remix, was hat dich am meisten beeinflusst / inspiriert ?
4. Wie schaffst du es dich von diesen Einflüssen zu lösen ?
5. Welche Teile des Remix magst du am meisten ? Weshalb ?
6. PS: Diese Fragen können gerne zusätzlich auch in einem kurzen Video beantwortet werden, welches du auf Youtube hochlädst und dann im Commentfeld bei Soundcloud postest. Zur Aufzeichnung kannst du gerne deine Webcam nutzen, Videoqualität ist zweitrangig. Füge das Video deinem Soundcloud-Link zu und verlinkt es in der Track-Beschreibung.

Alle eingeschickten Remixe werden hier sukzessive im Blogeintrag ergänzt, sodass jederfrau sie hören kann. Vielleicht bauen wir auch noch ein Rating-Tool für die Hörer ein, mal schauen. Die Remix-Files dürfen nur für diesen Wettbewerb genutzt werden, Copyright hält FLASH Recordings (Florian Meindl). Die Rechte der andere Klangmaterialien, die für den Remix benutzt werden müssen beim Remixer liegen.

Hello everybody, just as promised we are adding a remix competion to the track, which Florian Meindl produced live during two 4 hour lasting WebTV shows @ Berlin Mitte Institut. In his early production time Florian used to be a big fan of these remix competitions too, so he is very happy to host one with us. The two best remixes (or even more, if there are really good ones) will be released on FLASH Recordings together with the original, maybe even as a 12″ vinyl release. Depends on the quality of the remixes. The judging jury will consist of Florian Meindl, Kandel and Fresh Meat. Florian will be the uber-decider. Let your creativity flow, for us it does not matter which genres it will be or even more experimental. Can be a groovy clubtrack, or listening only. We dont care, we want good music !

Here are the rules:

• Start: 22.02.2010, end: 22.03.2010 12pm CET. Until 5th of April 2010 we will decide for the two winners
• You produce a remix (Wikipedia) using the material Florian provides with the material from his track – it must be noticable, that it is a remix of Florian’s track.
• On the 22nd of February we will release the remixing files here on the blog
• Once finished, upload your track to the extra created Soundcloud group (Disable downloading, do not upload your remixes anywhere else. We will approve them to the group and add them on the blog!)
• Label the track as follows:
  BMI_Techno_Seminar_(Remixer_Name_Remix_Name_Style)
• In the comment field of the Soundcloud link, answer the following questions:

1. Which hardware / software did you use for the production ?
2. Which parts of Florian’s original did you use and how did you use it ?
3. In producing the general structure and aesthetic of the track, what were your main sources of inspiration ?
4. How did you break with these inspirations to be more original ?
5. Which parts of your remix do you like most and why ?
6. PS: You are very welcome to answer these questions in a short video instead. Video quality doesn’t matter, use your (build-in) webcam etc. You attach this video to your uploaded track on Soundcloud and post the link into the track description.

All sent remixes will be posted on the bottom of this posting, so that everybody can listen to them. Maybe we even implement a rating tool, will see.

The remix files may only be used for the remix competition, copyright is held by FLASH Recordings (Florian Meindl). The rights of the other used sound material must be with the remixer.
